Our Story
Twenty-Seven Years on the Same Stretch of Coast
Windward Harbor Hotel opened its doors in 1998 in a converted 19th-century sea captain's residence overlooking Frenchman Bay. What began as an 18-room inn has grown, room by room and generation by generation, into a 68-room boutique hotel — without ever losing the feeling of being welcomed into someone's home.
Our mission is simple: treat every guest like a returning friend, source everything we can from within Maine, and protect the quiet, unhurried character of this stretch of coastline for the guests who will visit long after us.
Today, Windward Harbor is proudly independent and locally owned, employing more than 90 year-round staff from the greater Bar Harbor area.
